A member asked:

Are calories absorbed in the mouth, stomach or small intestine? i am doing a research paper and the info inline is confusing and contradicting.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Small intestine: You absorb nutrients in areas that have absorptive tissue. The mouth and stomach are channels that are modified to add materials that will make eventual absorption possible, but none is done in these structures. The small intestine absorbs the nutrients. The large intestine absorbs water and some electrolytes.
