Are nutrients taken in through the stomach or mouth? my medical teacher told me that no nutrients or calories are taken in while in the stomach. but this confuses me because if that were so wouldnt bulimic people be able to throw up all of there calories

Water, : Water, some medicines, simple sugars and alcohol can be absorbed when in the stomach. Other nutrients are absorbed after they leave the stomach when they are in the intestine. The stomach takes time to empty before the nutrients processed there leave and go into the small intestine. I hope this helps.

Tricky question: This depends on what you mean by "taken in." obviously you take nutrients into your body through your mouth when you eat them, but dr. Weiss gives a great answer about what happens once they're there. The stomach helps break down foods so that the rest of the digestive system -- the small intestine being huge in this -- can absorb them. Some say, "you aren't what you eat, but what you absorb.".
