A member asked:

I took a very small dose of miralax only a 1/2 teaspoon ( small amount due to my sensitive stomach issues ibs). for 2 days now i am having alot of trapped gas in my intestines. can a small amount of miralax cause trapped gas and cramps?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe/not. MiraLAX is just a binding agent that grabs water & holds on tight, preventing its removal from poop in transit. You may have a specific sensitivity to the product, but it is likely unrelated and more from some other gut issue. Gas is a combination of air you swallow during feeds and gas triggered by bacterial action on the gut waste. Probiotics may help the gas issue.
