A member asked:

I have ibs , i can't get regular bowel movements . i increased my fibres and water but didn't work. not hard stool ,i can't make my rectum contract?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe not IBS: Occasional incontinence of stool with fecal leakage is common, but loss of bowel control particularly without warning may signal a significant infection, inflammatory problem, maldigestive concern, or neurologic disorder. Sometimes, particularly in youths, the condition is behavioral. Has your evaluation included a check for procto-colitis, HIrschsprung's disease, pelvic floor dysfunction?
