A member asked:

I have ibs and tried taking dulcolax to relieve constiapation. while some bowel movements did occur, i still feel a lot of water in my pelvis. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Still constipated: With IBS your bowels can become sluggish and lead to constipation. Stool softeners can help "soften" your stool and may help you have a bowel movement but you may still have a large amount of stool retained. Activity and high fiber diets help some patients with IBS. There is also prescription medication available that some patients find very beneficial.
