Is it poss to develop ibs after an open myomectomy? had it 8 months ago. bowel habits not the same since. gi suggested peppermint tea + probiotics but stools are still loose. dont think ive had a solid bowel movement since surgery?

Have you had stool testing to rule out infectious organisms? If you also notice bloating, gas, abdominal cramping, and food intolerance (especially to dairy/vegetables) you may have developed small intestinal bacterial overgrowth as a result of your procedure. This can be diagnosed with hydrogen breath testing or treated empirically with 14 days of Rifaximin. Discuss more with your GI doc.
