An LDL of 16 mg/dl: is VERY low. We think anything <40 mg/dl is low. It very well could be genetic...this would be worth checking into by talking to family members. There have been diseases/conditions associated with low LDL: cancer, depression, anxiety, hemorrhagic stroke. The question: is LDL the cause, an effect, or unrelated. I do think this is worth investigating, probably with a Lipid (blood fat) specialist.
