HSV1 transmission: There is no way to know the exact risk. For sure the partner will not "automatically" be infected. Among other things, many people have HSV1 but don't know it; they will not be infected, because the immune system prevents reinfection with the same HSV type. But for sure the infected person should avoid exposing other persons by kissing or performaing oral sex during outbreaks.
