The 2k kcal diet: recommendation is for the average 70 kg 25 year old person with no medical issues to provide enough nutrients to sustain without gaining or losing unhealthy weight. For someone who is younger, or older, or different size, or has different metabolic profile (e.g. athlete vs wheelchair bound), the recommendations vary. You should not take it at face value, only as a guideline.
