Valproic & Fertility: There is not great evidence whether it is epilepsy itself or to antiseizure drug treatment that may lead to lower fertility. Valproate has been linked to an increased risk of polycystic ovary disease, a leading cause of infertility in woman. Most important thing is contraception/family planning while on and working with a neurologist for med management when deciding to have children.
