Yes: How long you've felt depressed? Is it a new symptom or not? Start with medical eval to rule out any physical reasons for your feelings. Also, look at your environment and focus on your thought to help you become more aware of your feelings. By increasing awareness, you might be able to find triggers for your depression. Sure. The cause of: depression is multifaceted and not always well-understood. There are genetic factors that can be triggered by anomalous, seemingly innocent events and there are functional (psychological) factors that may be small but build up over time. You might see a psychologist to get a handle on this. A psychiatrist will also suffice, but the bias might be to prescribe first.
