A member asked:

How does one get a diagnosis of depression and anxiety after traumatic life experiences and loss of a close one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Primary care doctor: Every person should have a primary care doctor, such as a pediatrician, family medicine doctor, or internal medicine doctor (those are the common types in the US). Any primary care doctor can evaluate a patient and see depression or anxiety or both. Mild cases can be treated by primary care doctors. Moderate or worse cases get treated by psychiatrists, but primary care doctors may help.
