A 20-year-old female asked:

which food/exercise/yoga pose will increase growth hormone release in my body to grow tall? i'm 20 years old. i really want 3 inches more. plz help :(

Growth very unlikely: A 20 yr old is not growing taller if her growth plates have fused. If not fused, she will grow a tiny bit (pediatrician's growth chart for her can tell if growth has stopped). To look taller, one can choose properly designed clothing and shoes, and have good posture. Vitamins, supplements, special foods, extra exercise, etc... will not make a person taller if she already closed her growth plates.

How can I handle mild food allergies in my infant?

Avoidance: For food allergies, avoidance is the best option. However, if the food is a nutritionally important food such as milk or wheat, it may be best to be tested to make sure. An allergist can help decide if you child has a food allergy, give tips on avoidance, prescribe an epi pen for severe allergies, and decide when to test if the food allergy is decreasing since some are outgrown.

Ask your MD: Assuming you are taking your Lipitor (atorvastatin) for primary prevention(you have high cholesterol)and Lisinopril for htn, it may be possible.A healthful diet and exercise can eliminate some of the risk factors that predispose us to these conditions.Even if you can't get rid of the meds, these healthy practices will yield tremendous benefits.See some recent exercise updates at www.Whatscookingwithdoc.Com.

Is it bad if I sometimes feel pain on the right side of my body when I run and sometimes when I walk? Sometimes its on my left side. Is this bad?

Maybe, maybe not: If a person is "out of shape" due to not exercising recently, then getting some muscle aches or cramps with running or walking isn't bad. With stretching, massage, and a gradual increase in exercises, the symptoms should go away. If symptoms persist or are worrisome, a primary care doctor should evaluate to see if there is a disease or disorder that is causing the pains.

A female asked:

Do I have dry skin or eczema? My body tends to get dry easily. Why is that? And how can I make it better?

Doc needs to examine: Many skin conditions are difficult to diagnose without being seen. Some preventive measures: take warm showers (hot ones strip natural oils; baths do likewise); moisturize immediately after shower; if in sun or wind, moisturize & use sunblock; avoid strong soaps/body washes.
