A member asked:

Can barium swallow detect lpr if there is no masses or damage to esophagus ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: LPR = laryngo-pharyngeal reflux. A dynamic barium swallow, where reflux of ingested contrast may be documented, may hint at the extent of gastroesophageal reflux, but it is not likely to accurately indicate the degree of pharyngeal injury without at least direct visualization.
