A member asked:

Why would someone on hospice be prescribed atropine oral drops?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dry secretions: Atropine drops help dry up secretions that a patient is unable to clear on their own. Secretions can pool in the throat and cause the breathing to become noisy. Those noisy breathing can be unsettling to the families. The patient in hospice may be aware or not of the secretions
