Usually expectation : For hospice is less than 6 months of life. Have seen patients "kicked out" for not deteriorating fast enough, but usually the palliative team is brought in on the late side and survival is days to weeks.

No right answer: The life span of a patient in hospice is as variable as the medical conditions that have put the patient there. I have seen patients live for an hour or two after hospice, and there have been those that have lived for months and even past a year. As a rule, a patient is admitted to hospice when the life expectancy is 6 months or less.

Hospice services: All hospices deliver a similar set of services. They include nursing, assistance with caregivers on a limited basis, chaplaincy, bereavement counseling, social worker and physician care (medical director in many cases). You are covered for many services and this includes medications related to your terminal diagnosis. Repost your second question, as it requires a lengthy explanation.

End of life care.: Hospice is meant for those who seemingly at the end of life, although that end can still be many months away. The emphasis of hospice care is not trying to save the life, but to give comfort to the individual as their death approaches. The timing of death is variable - days, weeks, months.
