Whats the difference between luxox and luvox (fluvoxamine) cr as both have half lives of about 15 hours? (both generic)

'cr' is sustained: Luxox is immediate release after taking, while luxox cr is sustained release to extend throughout the day. Additionally, there may be a lower 'maximum' concentration of the drug in the blood after taking the luxox cr, and this may help reduce side effects. The main goal of the luxox cr is to maintain a more consistent level of the drug in the body throughout the day.

Side effects: “When dosages are greater than 100 mg/day, Luvox should be taken twice a day, in either equally divided doses or with the larger dose at bedtime. The inconven-ience of twice-daily dosing may be circumvented by switching to Luvox CR, which can be administered as a single dose at bedtime.” REF: http://www.mainlinefamily.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Fluvoxamine_Fact_Sheet.pdf
