It has higher rate of side effects and drug interactions compared with several other ssris. Luvox (fluvoxamine) cr is much more expensive than other ssris which are available in a generic form.

Luvox CR: In the United States Luvox is only FDA approved for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Thus is has limited FDA indications. When used for depression - it is off- label use. There are multiple generic medications which be less expensive than brand name Luvox-CR.
