Why is luvox (fluvoxamine) cr the least prescribes ssri?

Expensive: Luvox (fluvoxamine) is not fda-approved for treatment of depression; used “off-label” for this illness. It has higher rate of side effects and drug interactions compared with several other ssris. Luvox (fluvoxamine) cr is much more expensive than other ssris which are available in a generic form.

Luvox CR: In the United States Luvox is only FDA approved for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Thus is has limited FDA indications. When used for depression - it is off- label use. There are multiple generic medications which be less expensive than brand name Luvox-CR.
