Possible TMJ: Pain near the ear can indicate inflammation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Grinding can cause this for sure. For more information visit my webpagre on TMJ here.....http://www.laserdentistbaltimore.com/tmj-therapy/

Damage: You may have caused joint damage by years of grinding. See your Dentist. You may respond to non-invasive TMJ treatment, a night guard, exercises, heat, etc. You may require occlusal management such as an occlusal adjustment or orthodontic treatment.

Bruxism: You've already diagnosed yourself... your grinding has finally caused a symptom: pain in your TMJ. Please see a local dentist to see if a bruxism guard is right for you.
