The habit of grinding your teeth is called Bruxism and is usually from one who is under stress and or anxiety. A dentist will construct a night to prevent damage to the enamel of your teeth. Sleep apnea could also cause grinding. Chewing sugarless gum can also help.

Best to see you Dentist or Dento-Facial Pain Specialist to determine cause of popping. May be due to anatomic anomalies, pernicious has its (grinding/clenching), previous trauma, arthritis, anxiety, malocclusion, etc. Once cause is determined, appropriate treatment can be prescribed.
