A member asked:

Why have i been prescribed erythromycin tablets and fucidin cream, if it will not cure a sabaceous cyst?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor's decisions: Sometimes a doctor may feel that they can 'get away' with one path of treatment rather than another, perhaps more invasive pathway. For ex., to cut out this cyst might be the most direct thing to do, yet it involves preparing for a small surgery, having you sign a consent form, getting the anesthetic ready etc.-Whereas just prescribing some meds would be an easier route, and 'might' work/might not
