Mono or not??: The lab testing which shows whether a patient has active mono or not is called an EBV Ig test. If the EBV IgM test is positive then the person has active mono but if it negative the person does not have active mono. The doctor will also use the EBV IgG to determine if the patient has had mono in the past. Your physician should be able to go over this with you in more detail.
