A member asked:

Monospot pos, ebv-neg, wbc 2.3. was retested for ebv and wbc today, but is it normal for wbc to be low with mono? worried it could be something worse?

Common in mono: Infectious mononucleosis can cause low WBC. How important it is, and whether there might be another contributing cause, depend on other things, especially the differential count, i.e. the numbers of the various types of WBC. Probably nothing to worry about, but something to discuss with the doctor you are seeing. Good luck!
