Don't delay: Never delay testing for a serious condition because of fear of the result, whether HIV, mammography, colonoscopy, etc. You have HIV or you don't; the test doesn't make you infected. If infected, you have to know. When testing is finally done, anxiety declines even if positive; the uncertainty always is more stressful than the "wrong" test result. If your symptoms are HIV, testing will be pos now.
