Most doctors: recommend a consultation with a fertility specialist after 1 year of trying to conceive with no success. There is a recommended battery of tests that needs to be completed by both the male and female partners. Causes break down evenly: 1/3 male, 1/3 female, 1/3 both or unknown. Males: defects in sperm production/delivery. Female: ovulation or uterine problems. Time for an appointment for you both.

No. Infertile couple: I don't know how extensive a work up you have had but you can't go over it all in 400 spaces. You should make a virtual appt to do a thorough evaluation. Also, if you aren't aware of the basal body temperature method of predicting ovulation look it up on Google scholar.

See your doctor: Medical evaluation is usually started after a couple has unsuccessfully attempted to conceive for a year. After 5 years, it is long past time to stop going by informal advice from friends or online information and see your doctor. Initial evaluation can start with your gynecolocist, but you may need to see an infertility specialist. Online care may be available from HealthTap/Concierge. Good luck!
