See your doctor: The cough can certainly be debilitating and codeine is sometimes a good adjunct but the goal is to effectively treat the asthma so the flareup and cough resolve rather than suppressing the cough. I see that you have a history of alcohol addition so in your case codeine and any cough syrup with alcohol is not advised.
