No: Best not to suppress an asthma cough. Asthmatics have thick mucus in their lung tubes which needs to be treated with asthma medications. Suppressing a cough keeps this mucus in the bronchi or lung tubes and can make the asthma worse. All the best.

Not recommended: Taking codeine is risky for patients with asthma; even though it decreases the cough reflex (the desired effect here), it also decreases the drive to breathe (absolutely what we do NOT want in asthma). There are safer medications to try first, and codeine should be supervised by a doctor. Codeine should *never* be taken by someone with severe asthma or by anyone ever during an asthma attack.
