SafeIfUsedByAnesthet: Profol is safe when used by a trained Anesthetist.Discuss your concern with your GI and the Anesthetist before the procedure. It is a sedative and you are being monitored during the procedure and you wake up a little seadated and some one has to drive you home. And no driving or handling risky equipment for 24 hours and no alcohol for 24 hours to be 100% safe

It is safe: Of course any time a sedating medicine is given, there is a risk of harm. Getting sedation from your GI Doctor, in my opinion, is riskier. At least with propofol, you have anesthesia providers watching over you closely. Otherwise, the doctor doing the procedure is also in charge of your sedation. That's two jobs at the same time and less optimal.
