Propofol: is the most dangerous sedating drug used, its use has been restricted to anesthesiologists in most institutions for sedation. Although you do wake up promptly with less drug aftereffect, there is a fine line between respiratory arrest and desired sedation, requiring constant attention and ability to rescue. But with proper personnel you will do fine.

Propofol w bad rep: While controversy over use of Propofol was highlighted in Michael Jackson case, increased use of Propofol in recent yrs is being driven by pure medical economics, i.e rapid recovery times w P, means more procedures can be scheduled in a given session. A meta-analysis by Quadeer et al.[7] showed that the use of Propofol for colonoscopy was associated with significantly fewer adverse effects compared with benzodiazepines, and had similar complication risks compared with benzodiazepines for esophagogastroduodenoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

Great medication: First have an anesthesiologist inject the drug due to the possibility of loosing the airway. Propofol will cause a rapid loss of conscious with a duration of under 10 min. It will me the only drug required in most of the cases patients awaken smoothly with little risk of prolonged sedation nausea and vomiting. There is no awareness and they can get discharged quickly
