No relationship: The term is not commonly used in medicine. "Salvage therapy" just means a treatment that can be tried if a patient failed to resolve his illness after getting the standard, commonly-used treatment(s). Looking at it this way, every disease has a salvage therapy, unless there is no other hopeful treatment to try.
