Need more info...: Could just be a resolving lymph node, but we'll need more info. Call her pediatrician about it--they'll want to ask more Qs, like how long has it been there, is it getting bigger or smaller? Does it hurt when it's pressed? Is it red? Warm to touch? Midline or off to the side? Any systemic symptoms, like fever or weight loss? If they're not satisfied, they'll want her to come in for a better look.

Common finding: Lymph nodes are located throughout the body ; generally noticeable in exposed areas like the neck. They are usually pea sized at rest and enlarged when stimulated by bug bites, dermatitis, drainage or infection. They usually return to resting size in 3-4 wks. They rarely can become damaged by infection ; grow to golf ball size ; need drainage or removal.
