Wear a brace: Wearing an ankle brace (eg aircast type)can make it easier and more comfortable to exercise while your sprained ankle is healing. If it is a pure 'sprain" no complicating injuries. You can do exercises as tolerated starting with stationary cycling. It ranges the motion of a sprained ankle and maintains the strength without high impact.
