Shows effects: Unless the CT scan is fortunate enough to see the stone, more often than not, it will only show a swollen parotid gland and/or stranding (inflammation) around it that points to a blockage. Most often, crystals /stones or mucus plugs (which can't be seen on CT) are causing the problem. Stay hydrated & follow the treatment recommendations of the ENT surgeon; if it gets worse, then go back for a 2nd
