Be checked: If your tibia is broken and it is really swollen and it hurts worse when it is elevated, I would make sure your surgeon is aware. When a leg gets really swollen it can cause a compartment symdrome in which the pressure from the swelling is greater than the pressure of the arterial inflow and in that case the pain and the condition would be worse with elevation.
