No antibiotic should: be left over. If his Rapid-Strep or throat culture was +, he needs a 10-day course of antibiotics to prevent Rheumatic Fever, a complication of certain strains of Group A Strep that occurs in untreated & partially treated patients, mainly from 5-25-years old. Your fever & throat pain need testing 1st to know if you need a full course of Penicillin at adult doses. Amox will mess up the tests.

Well: How come you know you have strep throat? You may have had it before and are experiencing the same symptoms, possible, but your dosage of amoxicillin for treating strep throat would be 1000 mg /day for 10 days, either taken once a day or 500 twice a day, your son's left over medicine wouldn't be as much, besides you can be allergic to the drug salt water gargles, fluids, pain killers and rest can do
