Are You Sure: Firstly did you get tested for Strep. If you did and was positive then Amoxicillin is the correct drug for you. Stick with the antibiotic, finish the course, gargle with salt water, drink warmed fluids. If you did not test positive and a culture was sent, await the culture report. It may not be strep. there are so many other causes for sore throat.

This is Normal: The Amoxicillin is not being used to decrease the pain of the sore throat. The pain usually goes away in 2-5 days. The antiobioptics are being used to prevent a complication of strep known as Rheumatic Fever, which can affect your heart, jointasm and other things. That is why it is imprtant to comlete the full course of antibiotics and not stop them well you feel better.
