Little less than a week ago, i cut my finger with a kitchen knife. not too deep of a cut. it's been feeling numb and hurts when i touch it. bad?

Maybe not: Due to the high concentration of sensory nerves in the thumb, there may be significant numbness/tingling/itching and, of course, pain with healing. Signs of infection include redness/swelling that is expanding and/or drainage of pus from the wound. Pain in the hand toward the wrist or fever may also signify infection. Expect improvement over next few days

Infection?: A bit of tenderness due to inflammation during the healing process is to be expected. If increase redness, swelling , pain or pus develop then you should seek treatment.
