Amoxil (amoxicillin) dose range: The usual dose of Amoxil (amoxicillin) for active bacterial infection in children is generally dosed at 45-90 mg/kg in two divided doses. Your child's dose is just below the highest recommended amount.

Amoxicillin: for children 2 months to 5 years the usual dose is 80-90 mg/kg/day given in divided doses every 12 hours for 10 days. 34 lbs is 15.42 kilograms. For the lower dose this would amount to 1236.4 mgs per day. For the higher dose it would be 1387.8 mgs per day. The amount being given is 1200 mgs/day. This appears to be appropriate.

Depends: Dosing for some antibiotics depends on what you are treating and where it is. A germ in the bladder where this med is concentrated could be killed off with half that dose, while the typical ear or sinus infection would need the dose you are giving.
