My 11 yr old son weighs 139 was given amoxicillin (400mg/5ml susp 75ml 6.25 ml) by mouth every 12 hours x 10 days.is this right for an ear infection?

Maybe: There is controversy about treatment of middle ear infections with some experts advocating no antibiotic at all. Having said that, at 139 lbs your son should be given an adult dose (875 vs 400mg) if treatment for the infection is intended. However if he has done well with the current dose, then completion of the antibiotic course would be fine.
