My daughter was prescribed 1.5 ml amoxicillin (400mg/ 5 ml) twice a day for 10 days for strep. she is 24 pounds, but that seems like a low dose. she takes her last dose tomorrow, but we still have 1/2 a bottle!

Strep & amoxil dose: Current guidelines are 50mg/kg per dose with a 500mg per dose limit for twice a day dosing. Your daughter is 11 kg so her dose is 550 mg twice a day or 500 mg per dose due to dose limit - or 1.25 teaspoons per dose twice a day - a teaspoon is 5 ml . She was underdosed. Check with your doctor - she may need a strep culture to see if she's cured before giving additional meds.
