My 8 year old 57 lb son has a sinus infection with slight swelling under his eye. his dr prescribed amoxicillin 400mg/5ml. the dose she gave is 10 ml twice per day. so 20 ml total in a 24 hour period. is this the correct amount?

You can check with your doctor but infections in the oral area for children are often treated with high dose amoxicillin which would be consistent with the doses you have been directed to give your child.

That is well within the acceptable range for treating this issue & below the maximum. I might have used Augmentin, at a similar dose.
