See doctor: Time to see the doctor for an answer. Some tonsil infections are viral and won't respond to augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). The doctor can help you decide the next treatment needed.

Follow-up: There are many causes of exudative pharyngitis (sort throat, white spots on tonsils). One common cause is strep throat. If this were strep throat, your son should be better. Several viruses that can also cause exudative pharyngitis. Occasionally, pharyngitis may be associated with an abscess that may not be effectively treated with oral antibiotics. You should call your doctor for follow-up.
