Eat less, exercise: more. Counting calories... but mainly seeing where you are messing up. This is the newest best idea from addiction medicine called contingency management. http://www.amazon.com/dp/0692496157/ It is like an addiction, and we tend to eat on the basis of triggers like boredom, anger, habit... Furthermore, I have to say, that the odds of keeping weight off without it or surgery run 10%.

You can get detailed: ...advice from websites like mayoclinic.org. The book, THE DUKE DIET by Dr. Howard Eisenson et al contains excellent, scientifically valid diet info. If you think you could use a support system, consider a program like Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or an online program. www.teambeachbody.com/marykauffmanfitness is one that I can vouch for. Best wishes! Dr. Anne.
