A member asked:

Fludrocortisone increases blood volume, alcohol causes dehydration. does this mean they will work against each other? thus florinef (fludrocortisone) less effective?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Strange question: Why are you taking fludrocortisone? Do you know its mechanism of action? Did your doctor tell you what it is used for? The only reason I have EVER prescribed this drug is for idiopathic orthostatic hypotension, which I have NEVER seen in a 24 year-old. If your doctor has prescribed Florinef, ask him why he prescribed it. You shouldn't be combining alcohol with ANY prescription medication.
