Yes: Due to its effects on increasing na+ levels, and therefore blood volume, Fludrocortisone ( florinef) is the first line of treatment for orthostatic intolerance and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (pots).

That's how it works: Yes Florinef (fludrocortisone) increases blood volume. The amount in terms of absolute fluid that is retained will not be significant unless you develop edema. (a pound or 2)that is because it does not take a lot of fluid to change the volume status. Florinef (fludrocortisone) works by causing the kidney to hold sodium. Water follows the sodium. It is the extra volume of blood that works to keep your BP from dropping as you stand.
