What does basilar atelectasis mean on a chest x-ray?? i had one done and all was normal except this! what is it?

Squished lung tissue: Basilar atelectasis is compressed lung tissue that is seen on Xray. It typically occurs because the patient did not take a deep enough breath during the X-ray, so the lung tissue at the bases (hence the word, "basilar") appears crowded on X-ray. A very common finding on X-rays. Note that this is different from collapsed lung (that is called a pneumothorax).
