A member asked:

100-101 temp for 3 days since hours after microdiskectomy. chest x-ray, cbc and urinalysis normal. minor atelectasis. surg. site is fine. what now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Atelectasis: Atelectasis is a collapsing of the small air sacs or alveoli in the lung. Commonly after surgery this happens. It is a common source of low grade post operative fever. You will want to be ambulatory as much as you and your surgeon agree upon as well as doing deep breathing exercises. Ask your surgeon for an incentive spirometer. Also stay vigilant about the surgical site. Check site bid
