A member asked:

I am 7 weeks with an irrigular sac and two chorionic bumps. there was a yolk and the heart beat was 117. what does this mean .. i have a follow up sonogram in 2 weeks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I have several: concerns . The fetal heart beat is slower than the ideal of 140-160. Chorionic bumps are associated with abnormal development of the brain and/or spinal cord. Abnormally shaped or positioned sacs are associated with a higher risk of miscarriage. However, detecting a heart beat at this stage of pregnancy is a hopeful sign & you may get better news @ your follow up ultrasound. Best wishes!
