Localized infection: I don't know if the metal object is still present, but I would strongly advise removing it. Infections are often hard to clear if there is a 'foreign body'. That foreign thing allows bacteria to swarm all over it as a biofilm, and as a result is almost impossible to heal. Antibiotics should have cleared it up-so it must still be present? Too much antibiotic can have side-effects -see an ID doc.

YouNeedLipService: First, the bar and stud are out, right? Nothing stuck in there?And how do you know it's an abscess? Because if it really is an abscess and three rounds of antibiotics haven't fixed it, then it probably needs to be lanced (a small incision to relieve the pus).How extensive an incision will depend on the size of this supposed abscess. If done properly, all should heal well with a minimum of scarring
