Big subject: Much of this depends on his overall health, the type of renal cancer, how advanced it is, etc. Without specifics - it would not be possible to tell you the treatment or to try to give timelines. I would ask your father if he has this information. If not, you could see if he would allow the doctor to share information about his condition.
